The Theatre development at Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital delivered a complete new Operating Department, with seven Theatre Suites, Reception, Recovery and all ancillary accommodation linking with the first floor ICU. Accommodation supporting the theatre floor, such as staff changing, staff tea room, theatre workshop and waste holding is located at ground floor level.
A new Day Surgical Ward was provided adjacent, forming a transfer area for day patients from the main circulation core to the Theatre area.
The new Hospital Sterile Services Department is located at ground floor level directly under the theatres, and the Medical Equipment Department is sited beside it, close to main circulation routes to allow it to receive equipment for processing from wards and other departments.
