The Hospital acquired ownership of the Sisters of Mercy Convent and its grounds at St Michael’s Hospital in 2015.  When the convent was occupied it contained living quarters for the nuns.

The project involved the complete strip out of all services and internal partitions throughout the four floors of the convent. The internal arrangement was designed to provide a flexible mix of large open plan and smaller single and double offices. Support areas include specialised equipment storage, multi-purpose spaces, refreshment, staff changing and sanitary facilities.

The generous floor to ceiling heights of the existing building were retained with large oak-clad windows over-looking Dún Laoghaire harbour.
