Two new Cardiac Catheter laboratories were required urgently at University Hospital Galway, to allow replacement of failing equipment. The contract involved extensive work within a live critical care block. This included moving the Cardiothoracic Ward, developing, fitting out and equipping two Cardiac Catheter Laboratories within a very tight structure, adjacent to functioning critical areas. The project includes provision of a further new cardiothoracic ward.
The project involved intensive interaction with a range of suppliers of highly specialised equipment, thorough coordination of design team information, focussed contract management and close liaison with HSE Estates and Hospital Maintenance.
